In New York, the Minnesota Twins have finalized one-year contracts with pitchers Justin Topa and Brock Stewart just ahead of the upcoming tender deadline. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Triston McKenzie from Cleveland and Cole Sulser of Tampa Bay have also reached similar agreements.

Recent negotiations and non-tender actions have significantly decreased the number of players eligible for arbitration. The count dropped from 238 at the beginning of last week to 169 now.

The timeline for arbitration is set for early January 2025, where teams and players will exchange proposed salary figures on January 9. If any parties cannot agree on a salary, they will participate in hearings scheduled from January 27 to February 14, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Topa’s contract guarantees him $1,225,000, which includes a $1 million salary for the 2025 season and a team option worth $2 million for 2026, accompanied by a $225,000 buyout clause.

Stewart’s agreement centers around a salary of $870,000, with the potential to earn an additional $30,000 based on time spent on the active roster: $10,000 for reaching 112 days and $20,000 for 142 days.

McKenzie has signed a one-year pact valued at $1.95 million, while Sulser’s agreement ensures him $900,000 if he remains in the major leagues, and $450,000 should he play in the minors.
