Inter Milan Dominates Hellas Verona with 5-0 Victory
In a stunning display, Marcus Thuram netted two goals as defending champions Inter Milan cruised to a 5-0 triumph against Hellas Verona, taking the provisional lead in Serie A on Saturday. This victory places Inter two points ahead of Napoli, who is set to face Roma on Sunday and has the opportunity to reclaim the top spot. Additionally, Atalanta could draw level with Inter if they manage to secure a win against Parma later in the day.
Despite the absence of key striker Lautaro Martinez, sidelined due to illness, Inter Milan had no difficulty in finding the back of the net, scoring five times in the first half alone. Joaquin Correa kicked off the scoring in the 17th minute, followed by two goals from Thuram. The scoring continued with contributions from Stefan de Vrij and Yann Aurel Bisseck, solidifying Inter’s dominant performance.
Correa almost added a sixth goal during stoppage time in the second half, but his shot struck the woodwork, preventing him from extending his tally. So far this season, Inter has only experienced one defeat across all competitions, and that came during a derby match against AC Milan back in September.
Later in the day, AC Milan was set to host Juventus, adding another layer of excitement to the ongoing Serie A season.
