YANQING, China — Christopher Grotheer from Germany triumphed for the third consecutive time this season, solidifying his position at the top of the World Cup skeleton rankings on Saturday.

His outstanding performance allowed him to establish a substantial lead, while Matt Weston of Great Britain finished just behind him, separated by a mere one-hundredth of a second. This finish marked Weston’s third medal of the season. Yin Zheng from China took the third spot on the podium.

Currently, Grotheer boasts a total of 675 points, which puts him 63 points ahead of Marcus Wyatt from Great Britain, firmly placing him in first for the World Cup standings.

In the women’s event, Zhao Dan of China celebrated her very first career World Cup victory. Hannah Niese from Germany secured the second position, while Freya Tarbit from Great Britain, who leads the World Cup standings, came in third.

The United States was represented by Mystique Ro, who finished in the 10th position, leading the U.S. women, and Austin Florian who took 14th place, leading the U.S. men.

The World Cup series will continue in two weeks at Altenberg, Germany, where athletes will compete for more points and medals.
