Jamir Simpson contributes 20 points as Southern Utah edges out San Diego 72-67

SAN DIEGO — In a thrilling matchup on Friday night, Jamir Simpson led the Southern Utah Thunderbirds to a 72-67 victory over the San Diego Toreros.
Simpson put forth a stellar performance, contributing 20 points along with five rebounds, helping his team improve to a record of 5-1.
Additionally, Dominique Ford added 17 points, while Tavi Jackson provided solid support with 10 points and seven assists.

For the Toreros, the standout player was Kjay Bradley Jr., who scored an impressive 27 points and secured two steals.
Kody Clouet added to the team’s efforts with eight points, six rebounds, and two steals, but it wasn’t enough to clinch the win as they fell to 1-4 for the season.

Simpson was instrumental in the Thunderbirds’ first-half lead, scoring 10 points which propelled Southern Utah to a narrow 32-30 advantage at halftime.
The team carried that momentum into the second half, quickly expanding their lead from two points to a commanding 16-point margin after a 14-0 scoring run, making it 53-37 with just over 13 minutes remaining in the game.
