In a thrilling matchup at the Myrtle Beach Invitational on Friday night, Tyler Morgan was instrumental in Texas State’s narrow victory over Princeton, scoring 27 points to secure an 83-80 win.

Morgan contributed significantly beyond his scoring, adding seven rebounds and three steals to the Bobcats’ effort as they improved their record to 3-3. Kaden Gumbs also had a standout performance, notching 17 points along with five rebounds, seven assists, and four steals, while Tylan Pope chipped in with 14 points.

For Princeton, which now holds a record of 4-3, Xaivian Lee emerged as the team’s star, delivering an impressive performance that included 30 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Blake Peters supported with 17 points and two steals, while Dalen Davis contributed 11 points to the Tigers’ total.

Texas State faced a slight setback in the first half, ending the period with a 43-41 deficit despite Morgan’s 12-point performance. However, Tyrel Morgan’s strong showing in the second half, where he scored 15 points, helped propel Texas State to victory as they overcame the small halftime gap.
