DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — RJ Felton showcased an impressive performance, scoring 21 points in East Carolina’s 71-64 triumph over Stetson during a recent matchup.
Felton contributed significantly to the team, also grabbing eight rebounds for the Pirates, who now hold a record of 5-1. Joran Riley supported the offensive efforts with 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting and converting 5 of his 6 free-throw attempts while also adding five rebounds.
Cam Hayes contributed to the win with a solid performance, scoring 13 points after shooting 3 of 7 from the field, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, while making 5 of 6 from the charity stripe.
On the other hand, the Hatters, struggling this season with a 1-5 record, had Mehki leading the team with 15 points and two steals. Abramo Canka followed closely with 14 points, while Jordan Wood chipped in with 12 points.
The Pirates took control early, leading Stetson 39-33 at halftime, with Hayes emerging as the leading scorer for East Carolina in that period with 10 points. The decisive moment came with just under seven minutes remaining in the second half when Felton sank a free throw, granting East Carolina a 60-59 lead that they would not relinquish for the rest of the game.
