LOS ANGELES — In an exciting matchup on Wednesday night, Terrence Williams II and Chibuzo Agbo led the charge for Southern California with 20 points each, while Wesley Yates III contributed 14 points, helping the Trojans secure an 82-68 victory against San Jose State.

Matt Knowling also had a strong performance for USC (now 4-1), scoring 12 points on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting, along with eight rebounds and five assists.

On the opposing side, San Jose State (1-4) saw standout moments from Josh Uduje, who made all five of his three-point attempts, totaling 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Will McClendon added 18 points, also showcasing his perimeter shooting with four three-pointers.

The momentum shifted in favor of USC when Williams completed a three-point play, initiating a 13-2 run that put the Trojans ahead 23-18 with just under eight minutes remaining in the first half. Latrell Davis tried to spark a comeback for SJSU by hitting a three-pointer to narrow the gap to 33-31 with 2:55 left before halftime. However, USC responded with nine points in the next 11, four of which came from Williams, and ended the half with a 42-35 advantage after Robert Vaihola scored for the Spartans.

In the second half, USC dominated early, scoring 10 points in a row to extend their lead to 52-37, capped by Knowling’s jumper in the paint at the 15:59 mark. The Trojans maintained their lead in double digits for the remainder of the game.

Displaying impressive shooting accuracy, USC hit 62% (16 of 26) of their attempts in the second half and finished the game shooting 57% (32 of 56) from the field overall, including 45% (10 of 22) from beyond the arc.

This victory follows USC’s recent loss, which snapped a three-game winning streak to start the season, including a tough 71-66 defeat to Cal last Sunday.
