LAS VEGAS — In an impressive display of skill, Alex Ovechkin achieved his first hat trick of the current season, netting three goals on Sunday evening as the Washington Capitals triumphed over the Vegas Golden Knights with a score of 5-2.
This marks the first time Ovechkin has recorded a hat trick since December 31, 2022, when he scored three against the Montreal Canadiens. With this achievement, he tallied the 31st hat trick of his illustrious career, placing him sixth on the all-time NHL list. Notably, the Golden Knights became the 19th team that Ovechkin has managed to score at least three goals against in a single game.
Ovechkin completed his hat trick by securing an empty-net goal with just 37 seconds remaining in the match, further solidifying his status as one of the league’s greatest scorers.
