Toledo secured an impressive 82-67 victory over Detroit Mercy on Saturday night, thanks in large part to the standout performance of Sonny Wilson, who scored 22 points.
In addition to his scoring, Wilson contributed five rebounds and six assists for the Rockets, whose record now stands at 3-1. Sam Lewis was also key for Toledo, scoring 17 points, which included going 5 of 12 from the field and an impressive 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. He also grabbed eight rebounds during the game. Isaiah Adams added 10 points, although he struggled a bit with his shooting, hitting just 3 of 14 attempts overall and 1 of 7 from beyond the arc, while going 3 for 4 from the charity stripe.
On the other side, Emmanuel Kuac led the Titans with 18 points and added two steals to his stat line, as Detroit Mercy fell to a 2-2 record. Orlando Lovejoy contributed 12 points for the Titans, while TJ Nadeau finished with 10 points, rounding out the scoring efforts for the team.
The game was competitive in the first half, with Toledo holding a narrow one-point advantage as they headed into the break, largely due to Lewis’s efforts, as he led the team with 10 points at halftime. The Rockets’ ability to maintain their lead and pull away in the second half ultimately secured them the victory.
