TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In a thrilling matchup, Ty’Jarian Williams passed for 251 yards along with two touchdowns, leading Mississippi Valley State to a 24-21 victory over Florida A&M, effectively snapping their lengthy 15-game losing streak on Saturday.

Prior to this win, the Delta Devils hadn’t celebrated a victory since a match on October 14, 2023, when they triumphed over Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a score of 42-17.

Williams put Mississippi Valley State in front with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Nelson, with 11:35 remaining in the second quarter, making the score 14-10 in favor of the Delta Devils (1-10, 1-6 SWAC). From that moment on, they maintained the lead.

Just five minutes later, Williams connected with Nathan Rembert for a breathtaking 60-yard touchdown, pushing the score to 21-10. This drive started from their own 1-yard line after a fumble by Florida A&M’s Levontai Summersett at the goal line was recovered by Erek Campbell of MVSU. Remarkably, before the fumble, Summersett had made a hefty 58-yard advance to the Delta Devils’ 4-yard line.

With 8:53 remaining in the game, Florida A&M’s quarterback Daniel Richardson managed to throw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Jamari Gassett, narrowing the gap to 24-21. The Rattlers managed to force a three-and-out from Mississippi Valley State, putting them in a position to tie the game.

However, disaster struck for Florida A&M on their final drive when Richardson was sacked for a 13-yard loss and subsequently fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Donovan Parham. The Delta Devils skillfully utilized the last six minutes of the game to run out the clock, sealing their hard-fought victory.

For Florida A&M, Richardson finished with 259 yards passing and one touchdown in the loss.
