PHILADELPHIA — In a thrilling conclusion to a closely contested matchup, quarterback Charles Deprima paved the way for Harvard’s victory over Penn, guiding his team to a 31-28 win on Saturday with an impressive performance that totaled 291 yards and two touchdowns. Dylan Fingersh secured the win with a 21-yard field goal as the game clock hit zero, further extending Harvard’s winning streak to seven games this season.

Ranked 22nd in the FCS coaches poll, Harvard maintains a strong record of 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the Ivy League. Deprima orchestrated a critical 10-play, 75-yard drive that ate up over five minutes of the clock, culminating in a 9-yard rushing touchdown by Deprima with just 7 minutes remaining, tying the score at 28.

Following that score, Penn had one last chance to respond, but Sam Smith was unable to connect on a 46-yard field goal attempt after a nine-play, 45-yard drive that took five minutes. With 1:55 on the clock, Deprima seized the opportunity, leading Harvard on a game-winning drive that secured their triumph.

Deprima’s efficiency shone through as he completed 13 of 18 passes for 169 yards and one touchdown, while also contributing significantly on the ground with 122 rushing yards on 20 attempts, scoring one touchdown along the way. Liam O’Brien’s pivotal 4-yard touchdown run with 12:05 left in the game briefly gave Penn a 28-21 lead. O’Brien displayed solid form, throwing for three touchdowns on 13-of-18 passing with a total of 171 yards. Additionally, Malachi Hosley was pivotal for Penn, rushing for 143 yards on 17 carries.

This match marked the 94th contest between the traditional rivals of the Ivy League, with Harvard leading the all-time series at 53 wins, 39 losses, and 2 ties. Since 2001, the Crimson has maintained a slight edge, holding a 13-10 record against the Quakers.
