CLEVELAND — Following an impressive inaugural season, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt has made notable changes to the coaching staff of the Cleveland Guardians. After leading the team to a remarkable 92 victories and clinching the AL Central title, Vogt, who was nominated for the AL Manager of the Year award, has begun to reshape his coaching team for the upcoming season.
One of the key adjustments includes the promotion of Craig Albernaz to the position of associate manager. Previously serving as the bench coach during the 2024 season, Albernaz’s new role will provide him with greater responsibilities as the team prepares for another competitive year.
Additionally, Grant Fink has been elevated to the role of hitting coach, taking over for Chris Valaika, who has joined Terry Francona’s coaching staff in Cincinnati. Fink has spent the last three seasons as the minor league hitting coordinator for the Guardians, where he has gained valuable experience in player development and offensive strategy.
First base coach Sandy Alomar Jr. is set to return for his 16th season with the organization, while Carl Willis will be back for his 15th season as well. Their experience and continuity will be essential as the Guardians look to build on the success of the past season.
Furthermore, the Guardians announced that Kai Correa has been promoted to the position of major league field coordinator, where he will oversee defense, baserunning, and game strategy. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening the team’s overall performance and enhancing their competitiveness in the league.
