FORT WORTH, Texas — In an exciting matchup on Tuesday night, TCU triumphed over Texas State with a final score of 76-71. Noah Reynolds was a standout player for TCU, contributing 17 points to the team’s victorious effort, while Trazarien White also shone with a solid 16 points.
The game took a thrilling turn as Texas State engineered a 14-4 scoring run, headlined by a crucial 3-pointer from Dylan Dawson, which narrowed the gap to 72-68 with just 1:32 left on the clock. However, Texas State couldn’t maintain their momentum, facing a turnover and missing a 3-pointer before Dawson found the mark again, bringing the score to 74-71 with mere seconds remaining on the clock.
In addition to Reynolds and White, Frankie Collins contributed 13 points and Brendan Wenzel added 12 for TCU (3-0). The team demonstrated a strong shooting performance, hitting 54% (28 of 52) of their shots, though they struggled at the free-throw line, converting only 15 of 32 attempts.
Leading the charge for Texas State (2-1) was Tylan Pope with 17 points, while Joshua O’Garro chipped in with 14 points, and Kaden Gumbs scored 10. During the first half, O’Garro was especially effective with 12 points, while Pope and Drue Drinnon each added eight. For TCU, White and Reynolds combined for 22 points in the first half alone, making it a competitive showdown.
The second half saw TCU take control early with a 9-2 run, and they held the lead for the remainder of the game. With this victory, TCU extended its winning streak to four in the series against Texas State, continuing their home dominance. Their last face-off before this matchup ended in a thrilling triple-overtime win for TCU, which they won 108-99 on November 24, 2009.
