COLUMBUS, Ohio — Chance Gray delivered an impressive performance with a career-high of 31 points, including 14 in the third quarter, leading No. 12 Ohio State to a decisive 94-53 victory over Charlotte on Tuesday night.

Gray’s shooting display was particularly notable as she tied the program record with nine 3-pointers, finishing the game with a remarkable 9 out of 14 from beyond the arc. This achievement ties her with Kelsey Mitchell’s long-standing record set on January 15, 2015.

In the first half, Gray contributed significantly with 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers, which helped Ohio State establish a commanding 43-17 lead. Meanwhile, Charlotte struggled offensively, shooting just 5 of 24 from the field (21%), and they faced a tough period during the first quarter where they missed 10 consecutive shots, leaving them trailing 31-8.

Charlotte did manage to score nine consecutive points at the start of the third quarter to narrow the gap to 19 points, but Gray quickly responded. She sank four 3-pointers during the last 5:10 of the third quarter, including a crucial shot in transition just before the period ended, which expanded Ohio State’s lead to 26 points. She continued her scoring streak into the fourth quarter with her eighth 3-pointer, showcasing her sharpshooting skills.

Supporting Gray, Ajae Petty added 12 points, and Cotie McMahon chipped in with 11 for Ohio State, which improved to 2-0 on the season.

For Charlotte, Alexis Andrews was the top scorer with 15 points, as the team faced difficulties after a recent loss to Wake Forest by a score of 60-41.

Ohio State’s roster is showing tremendous offensive potential, marking the second consecutive game with a player reaching the 31-point threshold. Last week, Jaloni Cambridge made a significant impact in her collegiate debut, scoring 31 points along with six assists, six rebounds, five steals, and two blocks against Cleveland State. However, her performance against Charlotte was limited to just 15 minutes after she suffered a hard fall.
