DES MOINES, Iowa — Mitch Mascari was instrumental in Drake’s victory over Stephen F. Austin, contributing a total of 26 points in the Bulldogs’ 66-51 win on Sunday.
Mascari showcased his shooting skills with an impressive 8 of 13 from beyond the arc. Alongside him, Cam Manyawu also made significant contributions with 13 points, including 5 of 7 shooting and a performance at the free-throw line of 3 of 9, in addition to grabbing five rebounds. Bennett Stirtz matched Manyawu’s scoring by also finishing with 13 points.
For the Lumberjacks (1-1), Chrishawn Christmas was the standout player, scoring 14 points while securing eight rebounds and making two steals. Keenan Emmanuel added eight points to the scoreboard for SFA.
In the first half, Mascari netted nine points but the Bulldogs found themselves trailing at halftime with a score of 26-25. However, he turned up the heat in the second half, scoring 17 additional points to propel Drake to a decisive 15-point win.
