OXFORD, Miss. — In a thrilling matchup, Jaxson Dart connected with Antwane Wells Jr. for a 10-yard touchdown pass during the third quarter, helping the No. 16 Mississippi team claim a decisive 28-10 victory over the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.
Caden Davis played a pivotal role in the win, successfully converting five field goals as Mississippi improved its record to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the Southeastern Conference, marking their third consecutive victory. Ulysses Bentley also made his mark early in the game with a 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
The excitement intensified as the rain-soaked student section erupted, storming the field with just 16 seconds remaining in the game, causing a brief delay. The jubilant scene unfolded again after Dart executed a kneeldown, signaling the end of the contest.
Georgia’s only touchdown came from Nate Frazier, who scored on a 2-yard run in the opening minutes of the first quarter. However, from that point onward, Mississippi seized control of the game.
Following the initial series, Ole Miss exhibited a ferocious defense, recording five sacks and nine tackles for loss. They also forced four fumbles and intercepted a pass thrown by Carson Beck. Defensive standout Jared Ivey and Princely Umanimielen each tallied two sacks, while linebackers TJ Dottery and Chris Paul combined for an impressive 19 tackles throughout the game.
