CHARLESTON, S.C. — Ante Brzovic delivered an impressive performance by scoring 34 points, guiding the Charleston Cougars to a convincing 86-71 victory over South Florida during Friday night’s match.
Brzovic was instrumental not only in scoring but also in rebounding, securing nine boards for his team, which improved to 2-0 for the season. CJ Fulton also had a notable outing, contributing 16 points with an efficient shooting display by making 4 of 6 attempts, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc, and hitting all five of his free-throw attempts. He complemented his scoring by pulling down five rebounds and dishing out six assists. Deywilk Tavarez added to the tally with 12 points, going 4 for 12 from the floor and 3 for 4 from the charity stripe, alongside six rebounds.
On the other side of the court, the South Florida Bulls, now sitting at 0-2, saw Kasen Jennings lead their scoring with 14 points and four assists. Quincy Adekokoya matched Jennings’ output with another 14 points, while CJ Brown contributed 11 points to the effort.
Charleston managed to gain control of the game with just 4:40 left in the first half, establishing a lead they would maintain for the remainder of the contest. By halftime, the Cougars had a narrow edge at 33-32, with Brzovic at the forefront, having scored 19 points by that time. The team showed their dominance in the second half, pulling away significantly with a remarkable 15-2 run. Brzovic once again was key to this surge, adding 15 points in the latter half to secure the win for Charleston.
