DELAND, Fla. — Marquel Sutton played a pivotal role in Omaha’s narrow victory over Stetson, contributing 25 points in their 79-76 triumph on Thursday evening.
Sutton’s performance also included a commendable 10 rebounds, helping the Mavericks to improve their record to 2-0. In addition to Sutton, teammate Lance Waddles scored 15 points, although he had a rough shooting night, making just 5 of 17 attempts, and hit 3 of 9 from the three-point range while also grabbing eight rebounds. Ja’Sean Glover supported the cause with nine points, shooting efficiently with 3 of 5 from the floor and hitting all of his free throw attempts.
On the opposing side, the Hatters, who now sport a record of 1-1, saw Jamie Phillips Jr. lead the team with 18 points alongside contributing five assists and two steals. Jordan Wood also made a noteworthy impact by scoring 15 points and blocking three shots, while Abramo Canka chipped in with nine points.
