BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — In a thrilling upset on Thursday night, Harmoni Turner delivered a standout performance for Harvard, scoring 24 points while former Indiana player Mona Zaric made a crucial block and added two key free throws in overtime, leading Harvard to a 72-68 victory over No. 25 Indiana.
Turner began the overtime by sinking two layups, maintaining Harvard’s momentum as Indiana struggled, committing five turnovers during the overtime period, resulting in a total of 27 turnovers throughout the match. The final crucial error for the Hoosiers came when they lost a held ball with only three seconds remaining. Zaric, who joined Harvard following her sophomore year at Indiana, converted two free throws with just 2.4 seconds on the clock to secure the win.
The Hoosiers had a slim lead for much of the game until a pivotal 7-0 run from the charity stripe saw them ahead 60-57 with 3:43 remaining. Zaric then made a game-saving block against Chloe Moore-McNeil’s layup attempt as time expired.
