Democratic Representative Marilyn Strickland has successfully secured reelection to her U.S. House position, representing Washington state, on Wednesday.
This marks Strickland’s third consecutive term for the 10th Congressional District, an area that encompasses Olympia, the state capital, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and the eastern parts of Tacoma.
Prior to her congressional career, Strickland served two terms as the mayor of Tacoma, which provided her with valuable experience in public service.
She stepped into her current role after the retirement of fellow Democrat Denny Heck, who occupied the seat since 2012.
In Congress, Strickland is an active member of the Armed Services Committee, as well as the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
The announcement of her victory was made at 4:47 p.m. EST.
