Democratic Representative Chellie Pingree has successfully secured her reelection to the U.S. House, representing the state of Maine.
On Wednesday, she was declared the winner for a ninth term, continuing her service to the constituents of Maine’s southern coastal congressional district.
Having previously served as the CEO of Common Cause and holding a position as a Democratic legislative leader, Pingree has consistently been a strong voice for liberal policies within one of the state’s more progressive districts.
Notably, she has supported Vice President Kamala Harris’s initiative to abolish the filibuster in an effort to safeguard abortion rights.
Significantly, Pingree holds the honor of being the first Democratic woman to be elected to the U.S. House from Maine.
The announcement of her victory was made by election officials at 12:45 a.m. EST.
