Republican Representative Tom Kean Jr. secured his reelection for a U.S. House seat in New Jersey on Wednesday.
The congressman, who is in his first term, previously led as the minority leader in the New Jersey Senate for over ten years before initiating a campaign against Democratic Representative Tom Malinowski in 2022.
In the latest election, Kean triumphed over Democrat Sue Altman, marking a significant victory for the GOP in a district that was previously leaning toward the Democrats.
The district, which Joe Biden won in the 2020 presidential election, underwent some changes due to redistricting, making it slightly more advantageous for Republican candidates.
It encompasses suburbs located to the west of New York City, extending from Westfield all the way to the eastern border of Pennsylvania.
The announcement of Kean’s victory was made by the news service at midnight Eastern Standard Time.
