Republican Congressman Joe Wilson has successfully secured reelection for his U.S. House seat in South Carolina.
Wilson has been serving the state’s 2nd District, which comprises suburban regions surrounding Columbia and extends down toward Aiken, since the year 2001.
As part of his congressional responsibilities, he is affiliated with the House Republican Policy Committee.
Wilson gained widespread attention during his early tenure when he audibly yelled “You lie” to then-President Barack Obama during a joint session of Congress, marking a significant moment in political discourse.
In this election, Wilson faced off against Democratic challenger David Robinson and emerged victorious.
The results were officially announced at 8:59 p.m. EST, confirming Wilson’s continued representation in Congress.
