DAYTON, Ohio — In their season opener, the Dayton Flyers showcased a strong performance, defeating the Saint Francis (Pa.) Red Flash with a final score of 87-57 on Monday night.
Zed Key led the charge for Dayton, contributing 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Enoch Cheeks also made a significant impact on the game, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Javon Bennett was effective as well, finishing the night with 13 points after hitting five shots including three from the three-point line.
The Red Flash’s offense was primarily driven by Jeremy Clayville, who netted 14 points. Bobby Rosenberger III supported his team with 10 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.
From the start, Dayton took control of the game, establishing a lead just 12 seconds into the first half and maintaining it throughout. By halftime, the score stood at 40-28, with Cheeks contributing nine of those points. In the second half, Dayton ramped up their scoring, boosting their lead to 50-30 after a scoring streak that saw them compile a 10-0 run. Malachi Smith stepped up during this period, leading the team with nine points in the half.
