JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — In an impressive display of skill, Jaron Pierre Jr. scored 24 points as Jacksonville State dominated LaGrange with a resounding 112-48 victory in their season opener on Monday.
Pierre also contributed significantly on the boards, grabbing nine rebounds throughout the game. Michael Houge had a standout performance as well, scoring 21 points with an efficient shooting night—going 7 for 10 from the field and a perfect 6 for 6 from the free-throw line—along with securing 12 rebounds. Jao Ituka added to the score tally with 15 points, shooting 6 for 9 overall and making two of his five attempts from three-point range.
On the other hand, Samuel Moss managed to score 10 points for LaGrange.
From the onset, Jacksonville State asserted their dominance, taking the lead just 16 seconds into the game and maintaining it throughout. By halftime, the Gamecocks had established a commanding 55-20 lead, highlighted by Houge, who contributed 15 points before the break. In the second half, Jacksonville State intensified their performance with a 16-2 run, increasing their advantage to an astonishing 57 points over LaGrange.
This remarkable victory sets a promising tone for Jacksonville State as they move forward in the season.
