Jacobian Morgan showcased a strong performance, throwing three touchdown passes and adding a rushing touchdown as Jackson State continued to dominate the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) with a decisive 41-3 victory against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.

With this win, the Tigers improved their season record to 7-2, maintaining their unbeaten streak in SWAC play at 5-0. They are set to face a critical matchup against second-place Alabama State in two weeks.

The game began with the Golden Lions (3-6, 2-3) receiving the opening kickoff and advancing to the Jackson State 18. There, Trey Glymph successfully converted a 28-yard field goal, marking the only points Arkansas-Pine Bluff would score throughout the game. However, the Tigers quickly responded, needing only four plays to cover 61 yards, culminating in Morgan connecting with Ja’Naylon Dupree for a 19-yard touchdown pass.

In the first quarter, Morgan also contributed by rushing 3 yards for a touchdown. He further extended the Tigers’ lead by finding Marvin Landy for a 22-yard touchdown just before halftime. Following a turnover by Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Gerardo Baeza capped off the half with a 36-yard field goal, bringing the score to 31-3 as the teams headed into the locker rooms.

Morgan concluded the game with 14 completions on 22 attempts, yielding 187 passing yards and three touchdowns, although he did toss one interception. Irv Mulligan was a standout in the backfield, accumulating 141 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Dupree also had a significant impact, recording three receptions for 57 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

For Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Mekhi Hagens struggled, completing 15 of 32 passes for 150 yards with one interception, while also adding 34 rushing yards on 13 carries.
