EDINBURGH, Scotland — In a remarkable return to rugby, Darcy Graham scored four tries, leading Scotland to a significant 57-17 triumph over Fiji at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday.
Graham’s impressive performance brought his career test try total to 28, temporarily tying him for the all-time record in Scotland just moments before his substitution.
After exiting the pitch in the 66th minute for a head injury assessment, his teammate Duhan van der Merwe seized the spotlight by netting his own 29th test try, reclaiming sole possession of the national scoring record he had held since July.
This match marked Graham’s first appearance in the national team in over a year, as his previous outing was during the Rugby World Cup, where he scored his only other four tries in a game against Romania. A series of injuries had kept him off the field for eight months, with his return coming in September.
On Saturday, he showcased his abilities by scoring twice in each half, helping Scotland to a commanding 26-0 lead within just 21 minutes.
Although Fiji briefly narrowed the score to 29-17 after being reduced to 13 players, Scotland’s robust performance saw them extend their lead, finishing with eight tries in total. This victory surpassed their former largest win over Fiji, which was a 54-17 result in 2018.
Scotland maintained its unbeaten streak against Fiji on home ground, highlighting their dominance in this match.
