MINNEAPOLIS — The Denver Nuggets are facing a potential setback as guard Jamal Murray has entered the concussion protocol following a collision in the third quarter of their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.
The incident occurred when Murray was running through the lane while being defended by Anthony Edwards. At that moment, Timberwolves forward Julius Randle unintentionally collided with him while trying to pursue Aaron Gordon, hitting Murray in the nose with his shoulder.
The force of the hit caused Murray’s head to snap back into Edwards, leading him to double over in discomfort as the play continued. After a few more possessions, he was substituted out during a timeout and went to the locker room for a thorough evaluation.
Shortly after, the Nuggets confirmed that Murray would not return to the game for the remainder of the night.
In the limited time he played, Murray had managed to score six points on 2-for-7 shooting, along with three assists in 22 minutes.
The team’s reliance on his performance will be a key factor moving forward as they seek to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
