EDMONTON, Alberta — The Edmonton Oilers announced on Wednesday that star player Connor McDavid is likely to be sidelined for a period of two to three weeks due to an ankle injury.

The reigning MVP from the playoffs, who played a pivotal role in leading Edmonton to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, suffered the injury during a game on Monday night. On just his first shift against Columbus, he was tripped and collided with the boards, leading to his left ankle being impacted.

Following the incident, the team made the decision to send him home for a thorough evaluation.

Prior to this injury, McDavid had an impressive start to the season, tallying 10 points across the first nine games he participated in.
