Authorities apprehended an individual identified as a person of interest in connection with a house fire that resulted in the deaths of three men and sent three others to the hospital. The incident unfolded in Temple City, located roughly 13 miles (20 kilometers) east of downtown Los Angeles, around 5 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by local fire officials.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and managed to extinguish the flames in under 30 minutes. Upon investigating, they discovered the three deceased individuals within the structure. Specific details surrounding their cause of death remain unclear at this time.

In addition to the fatalities, two other men found outside the residence were treated for burn injuries at a local hospital. Lt. Hugo Reynaga from the sheriff’s department’s homicide division stated that a 64-year-old resident of the home approached deputies for assistance.

Reynaga indicated to media outlets that the elderly man is being regarded as a person of interest in the case, suggesting authorities suspect he may have been the one who ignited the fire. The man’s identity has not been disclosed, and it was noted that he only communicates in Mandarin, creating some language challenges for investigators.

So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Reports indicate that those residing in the home were likely roommates rather than related family members.
