The World Series has kicked off with impressive viewership numbers, averaging 14.55 million viewers across the first two games, marking the best start for the Fall Classic since 2017.
On Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 4-2 victory against the New York Yankees, attracting an average audience of 13.44 million viewers across Fox, Fox Deportes, and various streaming platforms. This figure represents a significant 65% increase compared to last year’s Game 2, which drew in only 8.15 million viewers, ranking as the second least-watched game in World Series history.
In addition, this year’s Game 2 has become the most-watched since 2018, when the matchup between the Dodgers and the Red Sox averaged 13.51 million viewers.
Nielsen reports indicate that viewership peaked at 16.35 million during the thrilling ninth inning of Saturday’s contest. The rating in Los Angeles was recorded at 17.3 with a 55 share, while New York’s numbers were slightly lower, with a 10.3 rating and a 32 share.
In television metrics, the rating reflects the percentage of households with TVs that were watching, while the share denotes the percentage of the audience engaged at that specific moment.
