JJ Redick recently revealed that he was spotted watching game footage while at a car wash. This curious incident caught the attention of Baron Davis, a former NBA player who shared the moment on the social media platform X. Davis, who was a first-round draft choice in 1999 and played in the league for 13 seasons with teams such as the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers, seemed impressed by Redick’s dedication.
“Just ran into @jj_redick at the Car Wash. He had the laptop watching film!!!! Players coach!!! Lakers in great hands,” Davis tweeted.
As the Los Angeles Lakers’ head coach in his inaugural season, Redick responded to the post after a team representative informed him about it, as they prepared to face the Sacramento Kings for the second game of a back-to-back matchup.
When asked about the likelihood of him reviewing game footage in such an unusual setting, Redick explained, “It’s the circumstance of the back-to-back. Basically, I spent last night and this morning tying up the loose ends from last night’s game while looking ahead to today. This morning was no different.”
He also mentioned that he had taken his sons to their basketball games later that day, and the car wash happened to be conveniently located nearby.
“Very efficient use of time,” Redick remarked. “I watch a lot of film, but that’s not a normal occurrence, no. Thanks, Baron.”
On the court, the Lakers had just achieved a victory over the Phoenix Suns, winning 123-116, marking the team’s first 2-0 start since the 2010-11 season.
