CORNELLA, Spain — Dodi Lukébakio delivered an impressive performance for Sevilla, scoring twice in the first half to secure a 2-0 victory over Espanyol on Friday. This marked Sevilla’s first away win in their last nine matches in La Liga, providing a much-needed boost for the team.

The first goal came after 20 minutes of play and showcased Lukébakio’s skill as he unleashed a spectacular strike from 30 meters out. He gained control of the ball midway into the opponent’s half and executed a brilliant side-footed shot that found the top corner of the net—the goal is certainly a contender for the season’s best.

Just before halftime, Lukébakio struck again, though this goal was less sensational, it was equally effective. The Espanyol defense faltered in their attempts to clear the ball, leading to a prime opportunity for the striker. He confidently fired an angled shot into the far corner, marking his fifth goal in just ten league appearances.

After the match, Sevilla midfielder Nemanja Gudelj humorously remarked on La Liga TV, “I don’t know what Lukébakio is eating but I hope he eats more of it,” highlighting the player’s impressive form.

This victory was a significant milestone for Sevilla, as it was their first away triumph since April, pushing them up to ninth place in the league standings. In contrast, Espanyol found themselves in 15th position, facing challenges of their own.
