BASEL, Switzerland — Felix Auger-Aliassime’s pursuit of a third Swiss Indoors title came to a halt on Thursday, as he was defeated by the formidable Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard with a score of 6-1, 7-6 (6).

Ben Shelton made his way into the quarterfinals after overcoming home favorite Stan Wawrinka in a tightly contested match, winning 7-6 (2), 7-5. This 22-year-old talent will go up against the top-seeded Andrey Rublev for a chance to enter the semifinals.

Meanwhile, third-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas continued his strong showing by defeating Botic van de Zandschulp with a score of 7-6 (3), 7-5. He is slated to take on Arthur Fils in the next round.

Fourth-seeded Holger Rune also moved forward in the tournament following his victory against Swiss player Dominic Stricker, winning 6-3, 7-6 (2). Rune’s next opponent will be David Goffin in the quarterfinals.
