KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee guard Kaiya Wynn is poised to miss the entire season due to a torn right Achilles tendon, as announced by coach Kim Caldwell on Tuesday.

The 6-foot senior from Nashville suffered the injury during practice on October 18. The university indicated in an official statement that Wynn will undergo surgery and is planning to apply for a medical redshirt, allowing her to potentially return for the 2025-26 season with the Lady Vols.

Last season, Wynn was one of just five players on the team to participate in all 33 games. She contributed an average of 4.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while coming off the bench. Throughout the season, she achieved a career milestone by scoring in double figures during five games and showed notable improvement in terms of games played, minutes on the court, field-goal and free-throw percentages, as well as points, rebounds, assists, and blocks.

Wynn’s absence will be felt, but the team is striving to fill the gap and continue its progression in the upcoming season. The Lady Vols look forward to potentially welcoming her back after her recovery.
