In Woodland, Maine, a 37-year-old man allegedly used homemade explosives, some launched from drones, to carry out attacks as part of a local political dispute, according to law enforcement officials. Thankfully, nobody sustained injuries from these incidents.

Joshua Brydon faced a court appearance this week after reports indicated he detonated explosives close to the residences of various individuals. These explosive devices were reportedly manufactured using fireworks, propane tanks, and other materials, as outlined in court documents. One explosion was powerful enough to dislodge objects from the wall of a nearby home, with several devices being deployed from drones that Brydon was operating.

Records reveal that Brydon had a vendetta against individuals who were critical of a former Woodland Select Board member or his father-in-law, who serves as the road commissioner for the town.

No comments were available from Brydon’s attorney when reached for clarification on the matter.

Following his arrest on October 12, Brydon was charged with a range of offenses including arson, attempted arson, stalking, the illegal use of explosives, and posing a threat to the welfare of a child. In a related charge, he was also found in possession of firearms despite being prohibited from doing so, according to official reports.

Initially held on a $100,000 cash bail, Brydon’s bail was later reduced to $25,000, accompanied by conditions which require him to avoid contact with the alleged victims.

His arrest was the culmination of an extensive 18-month investigation that led to the confiscation of drones and materials associated with improvised explosive devices. This investigation saw collaboration from multiple agencies, including the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Homeland Security Investigations, alongside the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office and Maine State Police.
