Yannic Seidenberg, a member of the German men’s hockey team that secured a silver medal at the 2018 Olympics, has recently had his doping suspension reduced by 18 months.
The 40-year-old forward had challenged a four-year ban that was imposed last year due to accusations of using testosterone and another prohibited substance known as DHEA.
According to an announcement made by Germany’s anti-doping agency on Wednesday, an agreement was reached between them and the World Anti-Doping Agency, resulting in the suspension of 12 months of his ban and an additional six-month reduction because of delays attributed not to Seidenberg himself.
Originally, the suspension was backdated to begin from 2022 and will now conclude in March 2025.
Importantly, this decision does not impact his Olympic silver medal earned in 2018.
For context, Yannic is also the younger sibling of Dennis Seidenberg, who played as a defenseman on the Boston Bruins team that captured the Stanley Cup in 2011.
