ATLANTA — The NFL has confirmed that the Super Bowl will make its return to Atlanta in 2028, as team owners voted in favor during the league’s annual fall meeting on Tuesday.
This marks the fourth occasion that the prestigious championship game will take place in Atlanta, and the second at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which previously hosted the memorable matchup in 2019 when the New England Patriots triumphed over the Los Angeles Rams.
The initial two Super Bowls in Atlanta were held at the now-demolished Georgia Dome, occurring in 1994 and 2000.
Before the 2028 event in Atlanta, New Orleans is slated to host the upcoming Super Bowl following this NFL season. After that, the game will head to California for a two-year period, with the San Francisco Bay Area set to host in 2026, followed by Los Angeles in 2027.
