ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The campaign of former President Donald Trump still has an outstanding balance of nearly $209,000 owed to the city of St. Cloud for additional services tied to a rally held in July, according to city officials.

The outstanding charges cover expenses that exceed the standard services normally offered by the city, as reported on Monday.

Following the rally, a request for comment was sent to Trump’s campaign, but no response was provided as of Monday afternoon.

The rally took place on July 27 at the hockey arena located on the St. Cloud State University campus, where Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, addressed a large audience. For those unable to enter, a big screen outside the arena allowed an overflow crowd to watch Trump’s speech, which lasted over an hour and a half.

The costs incurred by the city include approximately $63,000 allocated for additional police services during the event, around $62,000 to adjust a nearby construction project, and close to $2,000 for IT-related support.

City Administrator Matt Staehling mentioned on Monday that St. Cloud typically invoices presidential campaigns for events that necessitate extra city services, such as races or political rallies. However, they do not bill for official government functions.

In August, Trump’s campaign settled a separate bill amounting to $35,000 owed to St. Cloud State University in connection with the July rally, according to Athletic Director Holly Schreiner.

This outstanding amount demonstrates the financial implications political rallies can have on municipal budgets, particularly when additional resources and security measures are required to accommodate large crowds.
