ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. — On Monday, authorities announced the apprehension of a second individual in connection with the tragic death of a man in the Detroit suburb. The victim had allowed two men into his home under the guise of utility workers assessing a potential gas leak.
The arrest occurred during a routine traffic stop in Plymouth Township, located to the west of Detroit, as confirmed by Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard. He emphasized the ongoing investigation, stating, “We are scrutinizing every detail and anticipate that those responsible will face full accountability for their vile actions.”
Hussein Murray, aged 72, was discovered deceased in the basement of his Rochester Hills residence on Friday. Disturbingly, investigators found that his wife’s hands had been restrained with duct tape, although authorities have not yet established if any valuables were taken from the home.
Reports indicate that the two suspects were initially seen brandishing a clipboard featuring a utility company’s logo when they approached Murray’s door, first on Thursday and again on Friday. The primary suspect was captured on Saturday in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, and is scheduled for a court hearing in Louisiana on Tuesday, which marks the preliminary step toward his extradition to Michigan, according to the sheriff’s department.
Crucial to the investigation, home surveillance footage played a key role in assisting detectives in identifying the suspects involved in this distressing incident.
