BOULDER, Colo. — Two-way standout Travis Hunter exited the game for the Colorado Buffaloes against Kansas State during the latter part of the second quarter due to a suspected shoulder injury sustained while making a 14-yard reception.

Following the injury, Hunter proceeded to the locker room and did not participate in the subsequent drive, during which Kansas State took the lead with a 60-yard touchdown pass, making the score 14-7 with just 1:52 remaining in the first half.

Although Hunter returned to the sidelines briefly, he was seen standing behind head coach Deion Sanders before handing in his helmet and walking off the field once more with a member of the medical team.

The play in question involved Hunter receiving a pass from quarterback Shedeur Sanders on a crossing route at midfield; he managed to gain 14 yards before colliding with safety Daniel Cobbs. While he maintained possession of the ball, he promptly signaled to the bench indicating a need for substitution.

ESPN reported during the game that the medical staff was assessing the condition of Hunter’s right shoulder, but there was no immediate update on his injury or future availability from the Colorado coaching staff.

This season, Hunter has rarely left the field, indicating his crucial role in the team’s performance and his prominent position in the Heisman Trophy race.

Last year, he faced a significant setback, missing three games due to a lacerated liver incurred from a tough hit during a game against Colorado State.
