The offense of William & Mary, ranked at No. 12 in the FCS coaches poll, was firing on all cylinders as they accumulated a grand total of 434 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Hitting a total of 632 yards for the game, the Tribe kept the pressure on Hampton by consistently moving the chains with 29 first downs.
Quarterback Darius Wilson also made significant contributions to the Tribe’s offensive firepower, completing 16 of his 19 pass attempts for 198 yards, and also adding 82 yards rushing and a touchdown to his impressive performance.
The game was marked by William & Mary’s dominance in converting their possessions into points. They mounted scoring drives of 90, 76, and 70 yards in the first half, underlining their offensive proficiency. Even in the fourth quarter, they maintained their momentum with touchdown drives spanning 66, 68, and 72 yards.
On the defensive side, William & Mary held Hampton to just 214 total yards of offense. The lone touchdown for Hampton came from a 5-yard run by Elijah Burris in the first quarter.
