A young girl in Bedford, Ohio, took her family’s 2020 Nissan Rogue and drove for several miles to a nearby Target store, where she was discovered unharmed by authorities. The 8-year-old’s name has not been disclosed. The incident unfolded when the girl and the SUV were reported missing at approximately 9 a.m. on Sunday, with her family realizing she was not at home around two hours earlier.
Upon receiving the report, Bedford police initiated an investigation and were informed that a young child had been seen driving a vehicle along a nearby road, although the specific vehicle could not be located at that time. The missing SUV was later located in the Target store’s parking lot in Bainbridge, around 13 miles away from her residence.
Law enforcement officers located the child alone inside the store. While interacting with the police, the girl mentioned hitting a mailbox during her drive but did not provide further details about her journey or why she had chosen to go to the store. Due to her age, the girl cannot face criminal charges as per the police. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and it remains uncertain if any charges will be pressed in connection with the incident.
