DJ Chark Jr. of the Chargers is put on injured reserve for hip ailment

The Los Angeles Chargers have placed wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. on injured reserve due to a hip injury he suffered in practice two weeks ago. This injury occurred leading up to the final preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. Chark, who signed with the Chargers in May for his seventh season, is the team’s most experienced receiver. He is expected to miss at least four games while on injured reserve.
In Chark’s absence, Quentin Johnston, last year’s first-round pick, is expected to start when the Chargers kick off their season against the Las Vegas Raiders. Additionally, rookie Ladd McConkey may see an increase in playing time to help fill the void left by Chark.
To replace Chark on the roster, Los Angeles has signed tight end Eric Tomlinson and elevated linebacker Shaquille Quarterman from the practice squad for the upcoming game against the Raiders. This move aims to strengthen the team’s depth ahead of the season opener.
This decision comes as the Chargers aim to adapt to Chark’s absence and ensure they have the necessary players ready to contribute to the team’s success as they start their season.
