Venezuela’s government has decided to revoke Brazil’s authorization to oversee Argentina’s diplomatic missions within the country. The government expressed concerns about anti-government individuals taking shelter in the Argentine ambassador’s residence for an extended period and alleged that these individuals were planning acts of terrorism from the compound. The Foreign Ministry of Venezuela released a statement over the weekend announcing the immediate implementation of this decision. The ministry stated that they were compelled to take this action based on undisclosed evidence that the individuals seeking refuge at Argentina’s diplomatic mission were conspiring to carry out the assassination of President Nicolás Maduro and Vice President Delcy Rodríguez.
