Stefanie Dolson scored 17 points while Ariel Atkins added 15 points and five assists to lead the Washington Mystics to a 74-70 victory over the Chicago Sky. The Mystics have now clinched three consecutive wins, marking their first three-game winning streak of the season after a previous five-game losing streak.
Chicago held a 68-61 advantage with 4:38 remaining, but Washington mounted a comeback, finishing the game with a 13-2 run to secure their first three-game winning streak since last June. A crucial putback by Aaliyah Edwards during an 11-0 run helped the Mystics take a 72-68 lead with 1:01 left on the clock.
Despite a basket by Kamilla Cardoso to cut the deficit to 72-70 with 51.1 seconds remaining, the Sky couldn’t score again, leading to their defeat. Rookie Angel Reese contributed with 14 rebounds and seven points for Chicago, maintaining her streak of double-digit rebounds for the 24th consecutive game.
Michaela Onyenwere led the Sky with 15 points, while Cardoso recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and three blocks. Diamond DeShields also added 12 points for Chicago.
Washington had its largest lead of 12 points late in the first half but lost the lead when Chicago went ahead 56-54 late in the third quarter. Unfortunately, Mystics player Shakira Austin missed the game due to an ankle injury, while Chennedy Carter, the leading scorer for the Sky this season, was absent due to health and safety protocols.
