Fanatics, the clothing company, has amended its lawsuit against Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to now include his father, former NFL player Marvin Harrison Sr. The lawsuit, originally filed in a New York court, accuses Harrison Jr. of breaching his contract with Fanatics that was signed in May 2023, with estimated damages reaching millions of dollars.
The updated lawsuit, filed in the same court, claims that Harrison Sr. was involved in aiding and abetting his son’s alleged fraud on Fanatics. According to sworn affidavits dated July 31, it was revealed that Harrison Sr. was the one who actually signed the contract with Fanatics on behalf of the Harrison Collection, not Harrison Jr.
The lawsuit alleges that Harrison Sr. signed the contract in a way that misled Fanatics into believing that his son was the true signatory when, in reality, he was not. ESPN reported that the deal between Harrison Jr. and Fanatics included agreements for autographs, trading cards, game-worn apparel, and other marketing opportunities valued at a minimum of $1 million.
Marvin Harrison Jr., who was a standout receiver at Ohio State before being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals as the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL draft, does not have an agent and has been represented by his father, Marvin Harrison Sr., a Hall of Famer who had a successful 13-year career with the Indianapolis Colts.
