Bears cornerback Douglas Coleman III was discharged from a Kansas City hospital and returned to Chicago on Friday following an injury sustained during a preseason game against the Chiefs. Bears coach Matt Eberflus mentioned on Chicago radio station WSCR “670 The Score” that Coleman was walking around and in good spirits after the incident.
During the game, Coleman was injured while making a tackle on Chiefs’ player Cornell Powell in the second half. The 26-year-old was immobilized on a stretcher, taken from Arrowhead Stadium by ambulance, and transported to the hospital after his neck bent awkwardly during the tackle.
Medical staff attended to Coleman on the field, where he lay motionless before moving his extremities. His facemask was removed, and he was secured to a backboard before being driven off the field on a cart. Despite the distressing event, the Bears went on to clinch a 34-21 victory in their preseason finale.
