In a matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers, the 49ers emerged victorious with a score of 16-10 on Sunday night. Derek Carr led the Saints’ starting offense on an impressive 95-yard touchdown drive against the 49ers’ backup defenders.
The 49ers, opting to rest many of their key players, saw Joshua Dobbs score a touchdown and Jake Moody kick three field goals to secure the win. Quarterback Brock Purdy led the offense in the absence of several key players, struggling to move the ball effectively.
The Saints also faced challenges with their backup quarterbacks Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener not performing as well as hoped. Despite the slow start, Carr managed to find his rhythm and lead the Saints to a successful drive culminating in a Taysom Hill touchdown run.
Injuries affected both teams during the game, with Saints’ rookie CB Kool-Aid McKinstry leaving with a leg injury and 49ers’ newly signed DT Nick Williams and RB Jordan Mason also dealing with injuries.
Looking ahead, the Saints will head home after training camp in California, set to host the Titans in their next game. The 49ers, on the other hand, will visit the Raiders in their upcoming matchup.
