Tua Tagovailoa had an impressive performance in the Miami Dolphins’ preseason victory over the Washington Commanders. In his first game since signing a lucrative contract extension, Tagovailoa was flawless, throwing a touchdown pass on a 61-yard scoring drive. He completed all five of his pass attempts, including a 13-yard touchdown pass to River Cracraft on a critical fourth down.
On the other side, Washington’s rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels also showed promise, going 10 for 12 for 78 yards and rushing for 13 yards. Despite his efforts, Washington struggled to convert yards into points, with one drive ending in a missed field goal and the other resulting in a successful kick by Riley Patterson.
Patterson had an inconsistent night, making two field goals but missing two others. Meanwhile, Jason Sanders contributed to the Dolphins’ score with successful field goals from 39 and 33 yards. These performances contributed to the Dolphins’ 13-6 preseason win.
Overall, both teams showed glimpses of potential on offense, providing fans with a preview of what may come in the regular season.
